Peter Puck Skating & Hockey Skills Program

"IF YOU CAN'T SKATE YOU CAN'T PLAY THE GAME"

(A little Phrase the skaters learn)

WE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD IS COMFORTABLE ON THE ICE AND

SKATING BEFORE GOING INTO ANY HOCKEY LEAGUES!

Yeah, scrimmage after every class!!!!

Peter Puck is a program for boys and girls to develop proper skating fundamentals and puckhandling skills. The is a fun and exciting program for the youngsters. New registrants must be able to make it across the width of the ice on their own to be able to attend the program. We are pleased that many of the skaters attend the program for 2 years for the skating techneques offered and hockey skills and to top it off, THE TON OF FUN THEY HAVE AT PETER PUCK, with a hockey game after every class.

The Peter Puck program enhances skill levels to youngsters in a fun and exciting environment with a lot of encouragement and recognition to each individual for their performance. The program instills confidence in the skaters, with an emphasis on skating techniques. Skaters from the ages of 4-11 learn the basic skating fundamentals. Youngsters starting out at this level learn the importance of skating on an edge, balance, body positioning and development of hockey skills. Our main focus on the ice with the children is "skating". As the kids learn to say "if you can't skate, you can't play the game"

The 1hr. classes consists of 20 minutes of skating lesson time, 20 minutes of puckhandling drills and wraps up with a 15 minute scrimmage. The skaters are divided into 2 groups according to their ability. While one group is concentrating on skating the other is working on puckhandling skills. The majority of the youngsters are new comers just starting out mastering the many skating fundamentals, plus we have skaters that are already in Minor Hockey and are wanting to develop better technical skating skills. Positional play is also introduced at the fun scrimmage.

Opportunities are also provided to allow the players to move on to He Shoots He Scores + Powerskating programs which is focused on full strides, backward speed, stops, total edge control, shooting. passing. puck control etc..which is instructed utilizing the full ice surface with a 15 minute scrimmage. See info on the website for He Shoots He Scores. Participants must have completed the Peter Puck Program and entered in the Minor Hockey Program. First time skaters can not register for the He Shoots He Scores Program.

During Spring Break we held our 10th Annual Peter Puck Hockey Tournament which included 3 full days of fun hockey, playing 2 games a day with numerous prize draws, t-shirts and medals for each skater. The popular event welcomes 95-100 participants.Check out the link noted: Tournament.

We are fortunate to have guest appearances from our Kamloops Blazers during the Peter Puck sessions. The Blazers presence makes for an extra special day, with a lot of fun, skating demonstrations and a scrimmage with the Blazers, with a dream of one day becoming a Blazer.

The 9th Annual Dolson's Peter Puck Hockey Camp was held the past summer with great accomplishments thanks to the dedicated powerskating and hockey skill instructors. The Hockey Camp provides lunch everyday catered by the McArthur Island Press Box Restaurant. A dryland program includes soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, etc.

DIANNA
I really want to thank you immensely for the training that you instilled in David. I still enjoy watching the videos of you patiently kneeling, talking and demonstrating techniques with him when he was only two. With his confidence in his skating abilities, he is able to play at a high level for his age and is able to focus on the game play and stick handling rather than on his feet. We have been so blessed to have had outstanding coaches, especially you, to instill and feed the passion for hockey in David beginning at such an early age.

Sincerely,Paul

Alex enjoys peter puck very much. It's a very positive environment and he is starting to really get comfortable in the peter puck scene. Thanks to you and your staff Alex has really improved with his skating and is becoming a very confident little hockey player.I can't say enough good about your program.I brag to everyone who will listen how awesome your program is and credit you for all Alex has learned with hockey. His organized hockey in Ashcroft is like public skating. It's really terrible. They don't do many drills and spend most of there time just kind of messing around through the whole practice.A lot of people have commented on his skating and I just brag that he has learned everything from Peter Puck and they all are amazed at how much hes improved.Going from constantly falling down and no balance to how he is now in such a little amount of time is amazing. The environment you have at peter puck lessions and the encouragement you and your staff give has given him confidence and he just strives to do the best he can out there and he says he always makes sure he listens to the coaches. Most importantly he is really having the time of his little life out there. He is so proud that he can score goals and pass to his team mates.Being a part of a team really makes him proud. Thanks for all you and your staff do not just for Alex but for all the peter puck children in your program.
